SOFORT was founded in 2005 in Munich, Germany, and has been the #1 Bank Transfer technology in Europe, and one of the top 3 most-used payment methods overall in Germany and Austria

Sofortüberweisung is now part of Klarna.

Since acquiring SOFORT in 2014, Klarna has seen consistent double-digit growth and is now expanding globally. SOFORT has been a strong brand in Germany and Austria, but Klarna has surpassed it in awareness and usage, particularly in other European markets.

To address this, we are integrating SOFORT fully with Klarna. Previously, bank transfer products were offered under two separate brands, SOFORT and Klarna Pay by Bank, both using our proprietary network.

The new integration through Klarna Payments will improve the consumer experience with faster checkouts and better management of their payments, and benefit partners with higher conversion rates and better risk services.
